M4 J10-J12 overnight closures eastbound 15 May to 12 June, westbound 13 June to 28 July

The Highways Agency will be undertaking work to resurface sections of the M4 east and westbound carriageways between Junction 12 (Theale) and Junction 10 (Wokingham) to ensure the surface remains in a safe and serviceable condition.

For the safety of the workforce and drivers, and to keep overall disruption to a minimum, work will be carried out on weekday nights (between 10pm and 6am), when traffic flows are at their lowest.

During these hours the following full road closures are scheduled to take place*:

Thursday 15 May to Thursday 12 June (19 nights)
Varied closures of the eastbound carriageway between Junctions 12 (Theale) and Junction 10 (Wokingham)

Friday 13 June to Monday 28 July  (32 nights)
Varied closures of the westbound carriageway between Junctions 10 (Wokingham) and Junction 12 (Theale)

*Please be aware that these works  may be postponed at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. adverse weather, unplanned emergency works). Advance warning of the confirmed closure dates will be displayed on black and yellow signs along the M4 and on the dedicated scheme webpage.

Diversion Routes
During all closures, the following clearly signed diversion routes will be in place.
These diversion routes will be utilised due to their suitability for all types/sizes of vehicles and where other major roadworks aren’t in place. They have been agreed by the local police and highway authorities.

  • Junctions 12 to 11: Traffic will be diverted between the junctions via the A4 Bath Road and A33 – the distance is approximately 7 miles and we would advise you allow an additional 12 minutes to your journey time depending on your final destination.
  • Junctions 11 to 10: Traffic will be diverted between the junctions via the B3270 Lower Earley Way and A329(M) – the distance is approximately 7 miles and we would advise you allow an additional 10 minutes to your journey time depending on your final destination.
